Set in late-1970s Tehran, this lively comedy follows a small-time hustler who starts boasting that he is partnering with an American tycoon he calls Donald Trump to open a casino in Ramsar. As the rumor spreads, neighbors, in-laws, gamblers and even a jumpy embassy employee all scramble for a piece of the mysterious deal, mistaking scraps of paper and lucky phone numbers for proof of the partnership. Meanwhile a nightclub singer is publicly shamed by a self-appointed moral guardian who demands he repent and give up music, adding a satirical edge to the chaos. Colorful sets, vintage fashion and a nostalgic soundtrack recreate the giddy, contradictory spirit of pre-revolution Tehran.
